180 Studios presents the largest exhibition to date of photographer and filmmaker Gabriel Moses, bringing together over 70 photographs and 10 films showcasing his work across the worlds of fashion, music, and sport, including the premiere of new work.
28 March 2025 — 27 July 2025

Exhibited at 180 Studios on The Strand, the setting and design are integral to this beautiful and bold exhibition. The warren of large, concrete bunker-like tunnels draws you into darkness, revealing the wonder of the visual images, which include photographs, films, and music videos.
The exhibition recalls the Prince song ‘Joy in Repetition’. There is a true, inspiring wonder on repeat, as we see the same images and motifs repeatedly, starting as small vignettes and then shown in greater detail in larger frames or longer films. These linger explosively long after being propelled out into the bright light of The Strand.

In an interview with Wallpaper magazine, Moses describes his photography work as having a ‘rawness but a beauty to it at the same time’. This is true and yet when faced with his new, first narrative film it seems like a departure from the luxuriousness and style of before’.
‘The Last Hour’, through a dystopian storyline, reflects our universality and morality. The protagonist, Ham, has a fierce-red numbered time bomb on his chest. This echoes previous videos, photographs, and sculptures showing the bold and beautiful dignity of man and woman.
The texture of the film with the criss-cross etchings in the character’s skin and the oft-repeated colours and motifs carries the viewer through the urgency of the day as life is unravelled at a fast pace, aided by the often-jarring music. Then the soothing notes of Labi Siffre’s ‘(Something Inside) So Strong’ are played as the roller coaster of frustration is unravelled. At times, it is overwhelming, such as when Ham’s face is thrust into the white-laced crotch of a stripper, representing the viscerally stifling nature of ‘The Last Hour’ and the living of life for the day when there is only a day.
Although the viewer has no time bomb strapped to their chest, they can recognise the spiralling events that can turn life on its head. At one point, he is standing next to a road sign on the freeway that reads ‘Wrong Way’.
Just as the film gathers pace, it is the ultimate conclusion to a brilliant exposition of Gabriel Moses' talent and uniquely unifying way of being.

Selah is curated by Katja Horvat in collaboration with 180 Studios, with spatial design by Emilia Margulies and graphic identity designed by Jayda Deans.
